Regular Old Meatloaf PDF Print E-mail

one pound of (lean-ish?) ground beef
one pound of ground pork
four strips of bacon
a quarter cup of oatmeal
a little milk (oy, who knows how much--it's all SO not Kosher, so I try not to pay
attention)
a little tomato juice
a little Worcestershire sauce
some parsley, sage, rosemary, and time (all to your taste, and fresh if you can)
an egg
a half an onion (mostly diced but save a couple of slices)
two cloves of garlic (Those are the sections, right? The big thing is called a head of
garlic? You're talking to the Bronx gourmet here)

With your clean hands, mush (yes, that's the technical term) all the ingredients (except
for the bacon and some of the onion--remember you have left some of it in slices)
together into a nice, moist loaf and round into loaf pan. Top the loaf with the onion
slices and then cover those with the slices of bacon (told you your heart would stop).
Then cook for an hour and a half at 350°F.

Serve (only once a year!) with an asprin (for circulation) and Gas-X!
