vinturi.jpgIt's hard for me to think about a great meal without pondering what wine to serve along with it. Well, this gadget isn't going to help you pick out the perfect bottle, but it does make most wines, especially robust and tannic reds, taste better by instantly infusing oxygen as you pour – eliminating hours of decanting and still delivering a softer, more integrated wine.

I'm not generally into toys, especially where wine is concerned, yet the Vinturi caught my eye – mostly because I was tired of only really enjoying my French and Italian wines over the last few sips. (I rarely decide which wine I'm going to drink in time to decant.) Granted, it's not a miracle worker and will not turn your $10 quaffer into a first-class Bordeaux, however, I am continually surprised at the difference.

It is also not going to give you the same experience or complexity as drinking a wine that has actually aged for several years in the bottle, but it will help if you have neither the time, space nor inclination to wait for your Cabernet to mature naturally. A simple, fun and useful tool every wine lover should own.
